Marine Life also has reported expansion and pack costs, so its larger displayed income is not automatically the best early purchase. Compare entry requirements and the different value fields before making a choice. These figures are all one publisher’s reports, not independent confirmation.

Three checks that do not require hidden stats

  1. Care cost. The 2026 description says you feed, clean, and play. A pet you cannot keep happy is a drag even if a wiki calls it rare.
  2. Shop value. Badges reward serving customers (Ka-ching!, 1,000 customers) and a perfect 5-star store day (Five Stars). A pet that never draws a sale does not move those badges.
  3. Space. Growing Pains is “buying every expansion and filling the whole block.” A large enclosure that blocks a shelf can cost more than the pet earns.

Numbers that were actually printed

  • Community reptiles page: common box value $150, Epic Green Iguana $900. Those are unbox figures, not hourly profit.
  • Community FAQ: Exotic passive income is described as counted separately per animal category: 100% for its first five, 50% for its next ten and 10% thereafter. Covered categories and reordering are incompletely documented; actual payouts remain untested here.
  • Displayed pack odds on that page: Common 68.7%, Rare 18%, Epic 9%, Legendary 3.5%, Exotic 0.8%. Rarity is not the same thing as profit.

One “tier list” is really a furniture order

petstoretycoonwiki.wiki publishes a tier list that ranks early furniture, not animals: extra fish tanks first, then goods shelves, then a pamphlet rack. The page says the grades are an editor’s buying order. I am not turning that into a pet ranking. Shelves and tanks are covered on shelves and fish.

How to compare two pets fairly

  1. Use the same store layout, available staff, and number of store days for each comparison.
  2. Record displayed sale or passive income, supplies bought, and care interruptions separately.
  3. Keep pack randomness and one-time unbox value out of recurring profit.
  4. Report the client date and conditions with the result. Without those observations, this site cannot assign a named-pet tier.
